Petroleum Jelly

Introduction: The pharmaceutical grade jellies are super white, highly refined semi solids & conform to the regulations laid down in the British & European pharmacopoeia/ FDA departments. These are manufactured from highly refined hydro-treated white mineral oils & superior waxes & are white, translucent, odourless, when cold & rubbed on skin & tasteless. These are soluble in chloroform and solvent ether, but are insoluble in alcohol and water & are unctuous to touch & retain their character. They exhibit very good lubricity properties & are used as a vehicle (ointment base) in dermatological ointments, applicaps & skin creams for active ingredients in pharmaceutical & cosmetic industry.

Application: Regular grade snow white soft paraffin finds varied applications in ointments, pain balms, capsules, cosmetic creams & lotions. Ophthalmic grade petroleum jelly is used in eye ointments, eye applicaps & special cosmetic creams, whereas vaporatum & fibrolatum grade is used in high end skin creams, ointments, hair food creams, salves & vapor rub (vicks type) applications, because of its lustrous long fibrous structure.

Known for good lubricity properties, this super white and highly refined semi solids conform to Indian Pharmacopoeia, I.P. 2007 specifications. White Soft Paraffin IP 2007 is widely used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries as a vehicle in ointments and other formulations.

• Snow White Grade: It finds varied applications in pain balms, ointments, soft gelatin capsules and cosmetic creams & lotions

• Opthalmic Grade: It is used in eye ointments, eye applicaps and special cosmetic creams

• Vaporolatum Grade: This grade of petroleum jelly is used in high end skin creams, topicals & vapor rub (Vicks type) applications because of its lustrous long fibrous structure

• Fibrolatum (Ultimo): It is also used in skin lotions, salves and vapor rubs

Introduction: The technical grade petroleum jellies are manufactured from highly refined mineral oils & imported superior waxes & are yellow, translucent, with its characteristic faint petroleum odour & tasteless. These are unctuous & waxy to touch & exhibit very good lubricity properties, with very high flash & fire points, making it safe to handle/ use in diverse applications.

Applications:  On account of its high lubricity & chemically inert nature, yellow petroleum jelly finds varied applications in general purpose lubrication in industry, printing ink formulations, FMCG stationery products, rubber products, dyes, mould release agents, fire arms lubrication, foundry fluxes, battery terminal lubrication, compounding of rubber, mining chemicals, metal working lubricant formulations, defence etc
